Mathias Boe, the former India doubles coach, criticised the Badminton World Federation, know the list of the injuries and injured players in the BWF World Tour Finals 2021
The badminton schedule has resulted in a number of players suffering injuries as a result of competing in back-to-back tournaments in the last three months.
Since the international calendar restarted with the Sudirman Cup in Finland in September this year, following a pause necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, as many as 40 shuttlers have been injured, including two-time world champion Kento Momota.
He said this in reference to the eight tournaments that were held in the last ten weeks, including the Sudirman Cup, Thomas Cup, and Uber Cup Finals, as well as five World Tour events including the World Tour Finals.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty
After the former complained of knee soreness, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, India’s finest doubles combo, were forced to withdraw from the BWF World Tour Finals.
After reaching the semifinals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament last week, Satwik and Chirag, ranked 11th in the world, has become the first Indian men’s doubles to qualify for the coveted season-ending competition.
On Wednesday, the Indians fell 16-21 5-21 to Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the Group A round-robin match. Follow that, on Thursday, they were given a walkover by top seeded Indonesian pair Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.
There is no verdict on when the duo will return for competition, but they will return as soon as rehab is done.
Kento Momota
The HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2021 Men’s Singles Group A has been thrown into disarray as Kento Momota and Rasmus Gemke both pulled out due to injury.
At 1-1 in the first game against India’s Sen, Momota withdrew due to a back ailment. He suffered an injury during today’s training session.
He had just apologised to his fans for ending the tour in this note, and has not said a word about when he will return to the court. Considering it is a prolongued injury, his return to the court any time soon is doubtful.
Rasmus Gemke
In game one, Gemke came back from a 5-1 deficit against compatriot Axelsen. After injuring his right knee in a match against Kenta Nishimoto last week, the Danish shuttler entered the tournament with an injury cloud.
His return is also not decided as of now.
Yeo Jia Min
National shuttler Yeo Jia Min retired with a 21-7, 15-9 loss against Thai world No. 12 Busanan Ongbamrungphan in their Badminton World Federation World Tour Finals Group B match on Thursday due to the rigours of back-to-back games at the highest level (Dec 2).
From the opening frame at the Bali International Convention Centre, it was evident that the Singaporean world No. 17 was up against it when she needed treatment on her right knee.
Despite her best efforts and a 3-0 lead in the second game, the 22-year-old was unable to keep up with her 25-year-old opponent, and the match was called after 31 minutes.
When she will come back to court has not been announced now.
