In a surprising turn of events, CSK bid farewell to England’s star all-rounder, Ben Stokes, who carried a hefty price tag of 16.25 Crore INR.

Stokes, the third most expensive player in IPL history, failed to meet expectations in the previous season, prompting CSK to opt for a strategic release.

Ambati Rayudu, with a release value of 6.75 Crore INR, also exits the stage, having retired from all forms of cricket after IPL 2023.

The departure list extends to include New Zealand’s all-rounder Kyle Jameson (1 Crore INR), South African pacer Sisanda Magala (50 Lakh INR), and promising Indian talents Simranjeet Singh and Sheikh Rasheed. (20 Lakh INR each)

These releases suggest a calculated move by CSK to infuse fresh talent into the squad while possibly freeing up funds for the upcoming auction.

In contrast, the potential retained players offer a glimpse into the core strength CSK aims to preserve. Despite speculations about his retirement, MS Dhoni, the iconic captain, will be donning the CSK colors for a potential one-last hurrah in IPL 2024 valued at INR 12 crore.

Ravindra Jadeja at INR 16 crore is the team’s versatile all-rounder, and Ruturaj Gaikwad at INR 6 crore a rising star, are also likely to stay with the squad. Gaikwad is also being considered as a potential captain, which reflects CSK’s forward-looking strategy.
