The best college basketball coaches in the US are on the list of those who earn the highest salaries. College basketball coaches are receiving some enormous and lengthier salaries these days.
Bill Self, who has been the head coach of the University of Kansas men’s basketball team since 2003, is now the highest-paid collegiate basketball coach after agreeing to an upgraded contract, according to several reports.
Over $13 million in the 2023–24 season and $53 million over the next five years will be paid to Self under the newly modified contract, according to ESPN, which cited unidentified sources. KU did not make the financial parameters of the arrangement public.
The first-lifetime contract that Self-signed with the school was in April 2021. The contract had a guaranteed salary of $5.41 million annually and was for five years, with an extra year added after each season.
There are five SEC coaches listed, including Self, the sole Big 12 coach on the list of the top ten highest-paid coaches. With the same income, Williams and Eric Musselman are tied for ninth place, while Rick Barnes and Pearl complete the top five.
John Calipari of Kentucky, who was previously the highest-paid coach in the nation, is expected to make $44 million over the next five years, sources told ESPN.
Five SEC coaches are included in the top 10, but Self is the only Big 12 coach. Calipari is one of them. Williams and Eric Musselman share a salary of ninth place, while Rick Barnes and Pearl complete the top five.
