Virat Kohli reached the feat in the highly anticipated game against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022
In the special game of the Indian cricketer, he scored a crucial 35 off 34 to set the tone of the chase. Virat came onto the crease when KL Rahul was removed on Duck by a peach from Naseem Shah. The score was 0-1 when the 34-year-old went on to bat. He was looking cautious and under pressure when he came onto the bat due to the hype of the game. He left the first ball which was very close to his off stump and in the next ball he almost got out to the second slip but Fakhar Zaman fumbled the ball.
But after the testing spell of young Naseem Shah Kohli was looking settled and played a few crisp strokes. Kohli got the loud cheer of the crowd when he played an outrageous stroke against Rauf.
Kohli joins Ross Taylor in the elite List of players to play 100 matches across all formats
Before Kohli, only New Zealand middle-order batsman Ross Taylor played 100 matches across formats. He retired from international cricket in 2020. Taylor has scored 18,199 runs across formats in the 450 international games. He has played 112 Tests, 236 ODI’s, and 102 T20 internationals. Taylor has scored 40 centuries in the 510 innings after making his debut in 2006 for New Zealand.
Kohli on the other hand has scored 23,761 runs in 464 international games. The premiere batsman of India also has an average of over 49 in all formats which makes him one of the best ever. He has scored 70 centuries in just 518 innings with an average of over 50. Kohli made his debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka.
