NFL jersey number rules

The NFL modified its rules regarding which position groupings were allowed to wear particular numbers before to the 2021 NFL season. Although some NFL players (including those listed above) made the switch to a new digit (or lack thereof), the NFL did not permit the use of the No. 0 until this offseason.

Before, only kickers, punters, and quarterbacks were permitted to wear single-digit uniform numbers. Tight ends, wide receivers, running backs, and defensive backs have now been included to that group. On the pitch, seven position groups now include the No. 0.
