The coronavirus is currently thought to have caused the Ligue 1 cash prize to be slightly smaller than in years past. During the first few months of the epidemic, both the local league’s revenue and the teams’ performance plummeted.

Lille OSC, the champions of the 2020–21 season, had a fortunate season in which they were awarded a sizable sum of money for winning the championship. However, despite the reduction in their prize money, they still used it to recruit new players.

How much money do the Ligue 1 winners receive?

The predicted total prize money of €500+ million will likely be divided into smaller sums, however, as a result of decreased earnings during the first two years of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ligue 1 champions receive approximately €50–60 million, with the remaining funds going to teams in positions two through seven in the rankings. It is customary for the Ligue 1 runner-up to get €10 million less than the French league champion.

To help smaller teams stay in the French league and prevent financial losses, other Ligue 1 teams receive lesser payments from TV rights profits and other direct payments from the football association.

PSG secures the Ligue 1 title.

With a lacklustre 1-1 draw at Racing Strasbourg on Saturday, Lionel Messi scored as Paris St. Germain won a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 championship.

PSG currently leads the standings with 85 points, four more than RC Lens, who finished second and qualified for the Champions League for the upcoming campaign for the first time in 21 years with a 3-0 hammering of AC Ajaccio at a hot Bollaert-Delelis stadium. For more updates, follow TSG.
