Leeds United has started looking for its next boss.

Carlos Corberan, the manager of West Brom, is the front-runner to succeed Jesse Marsch as Leeds United’s manager. After going on a losing streak that included no victories in seven Premier League games and placing the Whites in 17th place, just outside the relegation zone on goal differential, the American was fired by the Yorkshire club.

Despite the club’s support in the January transfer market, Marsch’s team has occasionally controlled games without producing results. With the permanent signings of Georginio Rutter and Maximilian Wober as well as the loan signing of Weston McKennie from Juventus, the club spent nearly £37 million in one month.

Carlos Corberan is the front-runner to succeed Marsch

  • Age: 39
  • Country of origin: Spain
  • Present organisation: West Bromwich Albion

The Spaniard worked as Bielsa’s assistant coach before leaving in 2020 to become the head coach of the Championship team Huddersfield. He brought the Terriers within one game of winning the Premier League in his second season there, but they fell short to Nottingham Forest in the play-off final at Wembley.

Corberan left to take over Olympiacos, a Greek powerhouse but was fired after just 11 games. He took over West Brom when he returned to England, guiding them out of the relegation zone and into the playoff race.
