It is reported that Lawrence Okolie will return home with the $425,000 net payout after his unanimous decision victory that allowed him to retain his WBO world cruiserweight title. Meanwhile, David Light will reportedly receive $275,000 confirmed purse and although he lost the fight, he proved his worth against Okolie. It has been revealed that none of the fighters will get any additional PPV purse.
Although Lawrence Okolie won the most of the rounds against David Light, it wasn’t a performance to recall. Contrary to expectations, Okolie could only emerge victorious through decision as he failed to finish the fight before twelve rounds. Okolie wanted to send a message to the top fighters in heavyweight and cruiserweight division with his resounding win against Light, but it wasn’t his best performance as he struggled to control Light.

Okolie was frustrated by Light in the first half of the fight, but Light was unable to fend off the Brit’s assaults the entire time as he endured brutal assaults in the closing moments. Light and those watching in the arena were somewhat relieved when the last bell rang because neither man’s reputation benefited from the quiet, lackluster match. Although Light did well to stand till the very last round, but Okolie had performed well enough to retain the title with scores of 116–112, 119–108, & 117–110.
