The Laureus World Sports Awards 2023 is all set to be announced between a date in March to May 2023, check out the full list of nominees for each category
This year’s list features football GOAT Lionel Messi, and a host of Olympic gold medallists like Mikaela Shiffrin, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Mondo Duplantis.

The Laureus World Sports Awards is an award ceremony, held annually to honour individuals and teams from the world of sports.

Sportsman of the Year
Max Verstappen, who won the 2022 Sportsman of the Year, is looking for a second-consecutive Sportsman of the Year Award following his back-to-back Formula One World Championships win.
Tennis star Rafael Nadal who has now won 22 men’s singles major titles, following his victories last year at the Australian Open and French Open is also on the list
Pole vault maestro Duplantis is also on the list following a successful Olympic debut in Tokyo. The Swedish star improved his indoor and outdoor world records and remained unbeaten in both the World Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
FIFA World Cup heroes Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are also on the nomination list following their performances in Qatar. Messi led Argentina to a dramatic World Cup victory and scored seven goals in the process. Meanwhile, his PSG teammate Mbappe, won the Golden Boot with eight goals.
NBA star, Steph Curry is also on the list following a fourth NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors. He was also unanimously awarded the NBA Finals MVP.

Sportswoman of the Year
This year again, Alpine Ski World Cup winner Shiffrin, and Jamaican sprinter Fraser-Pryce are on the nomination list of the Sports woman of the year for the sixth time.
Olympic medallist McLaughlin-Levrone, who won a world title and a 400m hurdles world record, is also on the list. The list also includes women’s swimming GOAT Ledecky, who won four world titles back in 2022.
Meanwhile, Barcelona FC star Alexia Putellas and Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek both earned their second Laureus award nominations. Putellas won a second Ballon d’Or award, while Swiatek won two major tennis titles in 2022. Given below is the full list of the Sportswoman of the Year award:

Action Sportsperson of the Year
Chloe Kim, who is a two-time winner in the category is also on the list again following her second-straight halfpipe Olympic gold medal in Beijing.
Ailing Gu, who is just 18-years-old, became the youngest Olympic champion in freestyle skiing history. She won the gold-medal in big air and halfpipe, helping her make the nomination list.
Rayssa Leal, the 14-year-old skateboarder is also featured on the list. Rayssa won an Olympic silver medal back in Tokyo and also won at the 2022 X-Games and the World Championships.
The list also features three surfers – Filipe Toledo of Brazil, the 2022 world champion, Australia’s Stephanie Gilmore, who just won her eighth world championship, and French big wave surfer Justine Dupont.
