His confidence was boosted by the first victory, which enabled him to defeat Ygor Coelho of Brazil in the round of 16 in under 30 minutes. He faced German qualifier Julien Carraggi in the quarterfinals, who gave the Indian a difficult time. Although it wasn’t difficult for him to win the first game 21-8, he lost focus and let his opponent tie the game by losing the second game 17-21.
