Sen had a resolute opening to the competition, defeating Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the second seed, 21-18, 21-15, in a match that lasted just 38 minutes. His confidence was boosted by the first victory, which enabled him to defeat Ygor Coelho of Brazil in the round of 16 in under 30 minutes. He faced German qualifier Julien Carraggi in the quarterfinals, who gave the Indian a difficult time.
