Lakshya Sen was born to D. K. Sen, who is a coach in India his brother is named Chirag Sen and he is also an international badminton player. He attended Beershiba School located in Uttarakhand.
His height stands at 1.78m with him currently ranked 6th in the world in men’s singles.
Lakshya Sen Professional Career And Achievements
Lakshya after getting trained at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy had shown his talent as being an amazing badminton player at a very young age and had a brilliant year in the junior badminton circuit in 2016. He clinched the bronze medal at the Junior Asian Championship after he lost to Sun Feixiang by 12-21, 16-21. Coincidentally, Lakshya Sen lost to Sun again in the pre-quarters of the Junior World Championship 21-17,8-21 and 13-21.
His team finished number 8th in the event. Later he competed in the senior international level and achieved in the men’s singles title at the 2016 India International Series. Sen started the year at the Syed Modi International where he lost in the pre-quarters of compatriot Sourabh Verma by 14-21,16-21. Sen became the number one junior at the singles player of the BWF World Junior ranking held in February of 2017.
Later on, he participated in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics as the fourth needed. He settled for the boys’ singles by winning a silver medal after losing to a Chinese player Li Shifeng in straight games by 15–21, 19–21. Sen also contested in the mixed team event and helped out the team Alpha to achieve the gold medal
In December of the same year, Sen reached the World Championships semifinals where he lost to compatriot Srikanth Kidambi in a hard-fought match by 21–17, 14–21, 17–21 and settled for a bronze medal to his name.
Sen was also a member of the Indian team which clinched the bronze medal at the Badminton Asia Team Championships held in 2020. Lakshya Sen became the Commonwealth champion at the 2022 Commonwealth Games by defeating Ng Tze Yong of Malaysia in the final and was part of the Indian team too which win silver in the mixed team event.
