Know Why Is Suryakumar Yadav Not Playing Today In India vs New Zealand In The T20 World Cup 2021

Virat Kohli gave the reason as to why Suryakumar Yadav is not playing today during the toss ahead of India vs New Zealand

Routed by 10 wickets by Pakistan in their world cup opener, the Indian team had to wait for a week to once again step out in the middle to redeem itself. And given the way results unraveled during the country’s hiatus, the side’s showdown with New Zealand became a must win affair.

Given the horrendous manner in which India crumbled under pressure against Pakistan, a slew of question marks were raised and fingers were pointed at the side. Changes were imminent given the languid form of a slew of players with the side making two ahead of its matchup.

India vs New Zealand: Know Why Is Suryakumar Yadav Not Playing Today

However, one was a forced one in the form of Suryakumar Yadav. The batsman ended up failing to make the cut owing to a back spasm, information which was provided by Virat Kohli during the toss on Sunday evening.

SKY’s Mumbai Indians counterpart, Ishan Kishan was slotted in as his replacement with Kohli further revealing that Kishan would be stepping out as an opener on the day. The second change came in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar making way for Shardul Thakur while Hardik Pandya once again managed to retain his place in the setup.

With Pandya unlikely to send down his overs with the ball, India once again find themselves going into the encounter with only five bowlers at their disposal. The plight is one which could end up costing the side massively with another defeat today all but closing the country’s chapter at the T20 World Cup 2021.
