The championship was certainly won by Quartararo in a dramatic fashion which is what made him swell up with tears in the pit lane.
Quartararo is the son of a locksmith and a hairdresser, and to imagine winning the world championship in this manner seemed like the perfect climax for a movie. ‘El Diablo’, as Fabio is popularly known as, couldn’t hold back his emotions after the race as he made history by becoming the first French premier class World Champion in history. He ended 9 years of Spanish dominance with two more races to spare.
“I have no words and I have no more liquid left in my body to cry,” Quartararo said. “MotoGP has been going on for quite a long time. To be the first Frenchman to win it is amazing. I’m also happy for Yamaha. Since 2015 they didn’t win a title.”

After a calamitous 2020 season which was cut short because of the Covid-19 pandemic, redemption is Quartararo’s as he had won the most number of races last season but did not get his due. He had finished eighth in the standings after a total of 14 rounds. Quartararo celebrated with the French flag draped around his shoulders while the crowd lit blue flares to celebrate France’s historical win.
The Frenchman also said that the feeling of winning felt amazing and that he was just living the dream. He also said that it feels great to have his family by his side and that he will enjoy and celebrate till the end of the season.
