Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi ended up breaking the door of the locker room after her side lost the WNBA finals to Chicago Sky

Phoenix Mercury clearly didn’t take their game 4 defeat to Chicago Sky well.

The Mercury side refused to fulfill its post-match duties ensuing its defeat as the side ended up exploding in the fourth quarter. Down 2-1 in the series, Mercury went into the final quarter of game 4 looking set to restore parity in the series before the side ended up catapulting under pressure to be blown apart in the tailend of the game.

In the aftermath of the defeat, one Mercury player who was particularly livid was Diana Taurasi with images emerging of her breaking a locker room door as her side squandered a pinch perfect opportunity to take the series into the deciding game 5.

Mercury who were leading 72-65 with a little under 5 minutes to go ended up collapsing as a unit from thereon. The side failed to score another basket with the team accruing only two points in the remainder of the showdown to slip to a 80-74 defeat on the night.

As Mercury dwindled, Sky upped the ante with the unit making amends for its showing earlier. Embarking on a 15-2 run to capture the WNBA Championship, Chicago ended up wiping the floor with Mercury with a comprehensive 3-1 win.

The league is yet to announce any kind of sanction on either Mercury or Dana for the team’s outburst after the defeat. It remains to be seen if the WNBA does decide to dish out any kind of penalty to Phoenix for refusing to fulfill its bare minimum requirements after the defeat.

Dana’s future is up in smoke as well with it unsure if the player will return next season.
