Kiran belongs from a family who has been playing badminton and are national champions based in Kochi, as his father George Thomas who was a former national champion and, his mother Preetha also represented on a national and even his brother Arun had also made a mark in the national circuit.

Kiran trains under the strict and experienced eyes of former international, Vimal Kumar at the Prakash Padukone Academy.

His coach, Vimal Kumar in an interview expressed that he feels that Kiran would be flying high in a couple of years, as he further stated, “I was very confident that he would be in the top 50 last year itself but there were no tournaments.”

“He has definitely improved and I’m quite impressed. Kiran has to now play the Challenge and Tour 100 events and graduate to the big stage.”

In September 2021, Kiran took part in the Polish International and, by beating Jason Teh in the finals he won his first-ever tournament since the Ghana International in 2019.

Kiran also reached the semi-finals of the Welsh International but was defeated by Siril Verma.

Kiran started the year 2022 by participating in 3 BWF world tour tournaments which included the India Open where he lost the first round, the Syed Modi International where he also lost the first round, and, recently The Odisha Open where he won the title. beating Priyanshu Rajawat to win his first-ever BWF World Tour title.

He has won the Polish International title and, has competed in the Thomas Cup for India, 2020 also.

This talented young kid has a silver medal at the under-17 Asians in Indonesia to his name as well in 2018.
