Kieron Dyer, former England International and Newcastle player revealed that he will undergo a liver transplant, know all about the 42-year old’s current health update
Kieron Dyer has disclosed that he will be undergoing a liver transplant after he was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis. Earlier this week, Dyer was in the hospital where some tests were conducted to understand the reasons for his underlying health complications. Ipsich Town, where the former Newcastle player works as the Under-23 manager have verified the diagnosis.

A statement given by Ipsich town which read, “The club can confirm Town U23 manager Kieron Dyer has been diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis. Kieron has been managing problems with his liver for the past couple of years, and now requires a transplant.”
Dyer himself admitted to being diagnosed with a condition of the liver a couple of years ago, and that he knew he’d be needing a transplant one day. He added that over the following week, the test results will confirm when he needs to go through the procedure.
42-year old Dyer has also been a pundit for Sky Sports and has won a total of 33 caps for the English national team. After the news of his liver transplant came out, Dyer talked about how positive he is as a person and that he will overcome this minor setback like a champ. During his two spells at Ipsich Town, Dyer made 117 appearances for the club. Soon after, he was signed by Newcastle United in 1996 for 6.5 million UK pounds. At Newcastle, he scored 36 goals in 251 appearances, eventually being called up for the 2002 World Cup and the 2004 Euro Cup. Dyer then went on to play for West Ham, QPR and Middlesbrough but ended his playing career when he took up an academy coaching role at Ipsich Town in 2014.
Having been promoted to the position of assistant manager in 2018, Dyer has been coaching the U-23 side since last October.
