Despite Maharashtra’s triumph, Telangana’s Vritti Agarwal stood out after winning the highest number of gold medals with five.

Maharashtra emerged as the overall champions of KIYG 2023 with a total of 176 medals. Given below is the medals tally of the top five states:

This year’s host Tamil Nadu, made a notable performance as they added three golds on the final day. The side also registered their best-ever performance in Khelo India Youth Games history. Meanwhile, Haryana finished out of the top two for the first time, after coming in behind Tamil Nadu at third. Behind them, Delhi came in fourth, ahead of Rajasthan following their superior silver and bronze medal count.

KIYG 2023 final day action

The final competition day of the KIYG 2023 took place at the SDAT Aquatic complex featuring final events for football, tennis, table tennis, and swimming. Telanga’s Vritti lived up to her expectations by claiming all five gold medals in swimming. She started off the day by winning the first gold in the 200m butterfly gold with a time of 2:22.89s. The 17-year-old then clinched a goal in the 1500m freestyle crown with a time of 17:59.51s. At the same venue, Tamil Nadu’s Rethin Pranav RS and MR Revathi both clinched gold medals. Both Pranav and Revathi previously bagged the boys’ and girls’ doubles gold medals on Tuesday. Maharashtra’s Rishabh Das clinched the gold in the boys’ 50m freestyle and then led the Maharashtra quartet in the 4x100m freestyle final.
