On Saturday, Maharashtra won multiple gold medals and moved to the top of Khelo India Youth Games with 37 gold medals, which is one higher than hosts Haryana with 36 gold medals. Haryana failed to register a single gold medal on Day 8 and face a tough task of catching up with the reigning champions Maharashtra.

2022 Khelo India Youth Games Schedule, Venue, Participating Teams, And Day 8 Winners
In Swimming, Utkarsh Patil (Boys 200m backstroke), Ridhima Veerendrakumar (Girls 200m backstroke), Aneesh Gowda (Boys 800m freestyle), and Karnataka’s 4x100m Medley Team won gold medals as representatives of Karnataka. With this, Karnataka managed to bag four of the six gold medals on offer on the day.
On Saturday, tennis player Dhruv Hirpara and cyclist Muskan finished first and second, respectively, for Gujarat.
In the Boy’s Singles final, Dhruv defeated Uttar Pradesh’s Rushil Khosla 6-4, 7-5. Rushil had some lovely volleys, but he was dealing with an ailment and had to have a medical timeout twice in two sets.
Akanksha Nitture of Maharashtra won the girls singles tennis title, defeating Sunita Maruri of Karnataka 6-7, 7-6, 6-4, while Diya Chitale and Swastika Ghosh of Maharashtra won the table tennis girls doubles title, defeating Haryana’s Suhana Saini and Prithoki Chakraborti 14-12, 11-9, 11-6.
Apeksha Fernandes won the 200m Girls Individual Medley to put Maharashtra ahead, setting a new meet record of 2:25.18 seconds in the process. Kerala won 11 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals in kalaripayattu, their ancient sport, to move up to fifth place with 13 gold medals, behind Karnataka’s 21 and Manipur’s 16.

However, Haryana, on the other hand, might be poised for a sensational finish, with a gold mine waiting for them in the boxing ring.
