The Khelo India Winter Games aka KIWG 2025 are all set to enter their second phase starting in Jammu and Kashmir’s famous ski resort of Gulmarg, check out all the schedule and mascot details below
The highly anticipated event will take place from March 9 to 12 in Gulmarg following the first leg that took place in Ladakh from January 23 to 27.

According to official reports, the current snowfall and climatic conditions in Jammu and Kashmir are favourable for conducting various snow sports.
Khelo India Winter Games
The Khelo India Winter Games is a flagship event that the Indian government organizes to provide a competitive platform for the country’s top winter sports athletes. The first edition of the game took place in 2020, with J&K hosting and winning the first three editions. Last year, Ladakh and J&K co-hosted the event, with the Indian Army claiming the overall title.
Heading into this year’s competition, ice hockey and speed skating have already been conducted as part of the first phase. Although the upcoming Gulmarg leg was initially scheduled from February 22 to 25 it got postponed due to insufficient snow.

Khelo India Winter Games 2025 format
This year’s competition will feature 19 teams representing different states, Union Territories and institutional outfits across six disciplines. UT Ladakh are currently in lead in the medal tally with four golds, two silvers, and one bronze. The upcoming Games will follow a team championship format. As such, individual athletes or teams can earn medals and contribute to the overall tally of their respective state, Union Territory or institutions.
The mascot for the Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) 2025 is the majestic snow leopard, representing the region’s abundant biodiversity and dedication to conservation efforts.
