At the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College in Lucknow on Tuesday, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology made the most spectacular climb in the medal standings by taking home as many as four of the 17 gold medals available in the track and field competition. In other significant outcomes from the day, Savitribai Phule Pune University defeated Osmania University 2-0 to claim the women’s tennis gold medal. After a long match, Anna University defeated Bharthiar University 2-1 in the men’s tennis championship match.
On June 1 at the GGSSC Hockey stadium, Guru Nanak Dev University will play Punjabi University in the men’s hockey championship match. However, these two teams played contrastingly in their respective semi-final ties, with the former needing a shootout to defeat Sambalpur University by the score of 5-5 (4-2), and the latter thrashing Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University by score of 7-1.
