Kedarnath is completely covered in snow during the winter, making all of the paths unusable for six months. The holy idol is moved to Ukhimath during this seasonal hibernation, and it will be reinstalled in April and May once the mountain melts.

In the past, Kedarnath’s doors would close after Diwali to signify the arrival of winter and reopen in the spring. Nevertheless, pilgrims of Chardham are again going to delight us as the official date for the opening of Jyotirling Shri Kedarnath Dham’s holy portals has been confirmed.

This significant statement was made on Mahashivratri during a religious event at the Omkareshwar Temple, Panchkedar Gaddisthal. Based on Panchang’s calculations, the decision marks the beginning of the pilgrimage season to the revered Shri Kedarnath Dham, the twelfth Jyotirling.
