This weekend just brought with it some horrible news for the collegiate football community as a former Clemson and Florida player tragically passes away at age 21, know the cause of death of Kaleb Boateng

According to a statement from Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney, Kaleb Boateng, a former offensive lineman at Clemson and Florida, unfortunately, passed away this week. He was just 21 years old during the passing. However, his cause of death has not been made public.

He was a beloved friend, son and teammate. TV20 has confirmed Boateng died at the Varsity House apartment complex on Thursday night and the Gainesville Police Department determined the death was an apparent suicide.

In a statement, Swinney stated, “We are profoundly saddened to hear the news of Kaleb’s passing.” “This is an extremely awful and depressing circumstance. We are sending up prayers for his family. Even though Kaleb was only with us for a short while before leaving, we remember him as a fantastic teammate who was always upbeat. We send our sympathies to his family and to everyone who had the honour of knowing him.”

Boateng’s College career

Boateng spent his first two seasons of collegiate football playing at Clemson. In two seasons, from 2019 to 2020, he played for the Tigers and saw action in five games. In August 2021, Boateng transferred as a preferred walk-on at the University of Florida. He was not included on the Gators’ web roster for the 2022 season because he redshirted in his first year with the team.
