Chris Mortensen was a notable American journalist who was born on November 7, 1951, in Torrance, California, United States. He was 72 years old at the time of his passing. Chris was renowned for providing reports for various sports shows like ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, and ESPN.com. Mortensen announced his retirement just last April after covering his 33rd NFL draft.

Renowned ESPN football analyst and journalist Chris Mortensen passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Following his tragic death, tributes and condolences came pouring in from colleagues, friends, and fans during the wake. Jimmy Pitaro, who is the chairman of ESPN, stated:
Mort was widely respected as an industry pioneer and universally beloved as a supportive, hard-working teammate. He covered the NFL with extraordinary skill and passion, and was at the top of his field for decades. He will truly be missed by colleagues and fans, and our hearts and thoughts are with his loved ones.”
