The news was initially reported by Variety. In a statement to PEOPLE, Chris Carbaugh, a spokesman for Joe Turkel, stated,

“So sad to announce that dear friend and client Joe Turkel has died away. Joe was a lightning bolt who spoke with great enthusiasm about baseball, movies, and life. He was quick to tell a stupid joke whenever we chatted, which always made me chuckle.”

Joe Turkel was a famous American character actor who died recently. His real name was Joseph Turkel.

Turkel was born to Polish-Jewish immigrants on July 15, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York. Harold and David, two of his brothers, existed. He enlisted in the American Army at the age of 17 and had done duty in the European Theater of Operations during World War II.

Turkel was married to Anita J. Turkel and that couple had two sons. At the time of his death, he was just 94 years old.

He was also affiliated with Democratic Party.

His Career

1948’s City Across the River featured Turkel in his very first movie role. He is well-known for playing Dr. Eldon Tyrell in Blade Runner and for appearing in Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing, Paths of Glory, and The Shining.

Three times, including in the 1961 episode “The Many Faces of Gideon Flinch,” Turkel guest-starred on Bonanza. Turkel’s more well-known performances include Lloyd in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and Dr. Eldon Tyrell in Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (1982). (1980).
