Ambrose who had left WWE in 2019 owing to increasing differences between him and the company had made a name for himself on the independent wrestling circuit. He had then gone onto meet Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in WWE as he joined the company’s Florida Championship Wrestling with whom he had formed a group known as the Shield.
“I’m not doing that shit. So I was pissed. I can’t believe they were so incompetent that they’re going to make me walk away from all this money. Jesus Christ, now I have to go back to the indies, f**k it, let’s go,” Ambrose had said when he had talked about his differences with WWE and what prompted him to quit the company as he made the switch to AEW.
