The man from St. Louis, Missouri, had a hard childhood. His parents split up when he was two years old, and his mother died when he was only ten. Jon started acting when he was in first grade and kept doing it until he was in high school. After he finished high school, he lost his father, which was very sad.
While Jon Hamm was at the University of Missouri, Jon got parts in the plays A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Assassins. He did not quit, though, like many other actors. He got a Bachelor of Arts in English from the school.
Soon after, the actor-wanted to move to Los Angeles to start his career in show business. He was a guest on NBC’s Providence. And got a recurring role in 19 episodes because of how good he was and how good he looked.
Some of Jon Hamm’s most famous roles were in The Division (2002–2004), What About Brian (2006–2007), Mad Men (2007–2015), Children’s Hospital (2010–2016), The Amazing Gayl Pile (2016–2018), and most recently, Top Gun: Maverick (2022).
Why Did Jon Hamm Pay For The Project?
To pay for “Confess, Fletch,” the actor gives up 60% of his salary. When asked why there was no marketing for Confess, Fletch, director Greg told the story of how the movie came to be.
“Basically, the project started with Jon Hamm coming to me and saying Miramax has the rights to all the books except the first one,” the director revealed.
When he talked about how the movie was going to be paid for, Greg said that Miramax could only pay for 27 days of the shoot.
“It was the kind of amount of money that would mean 27 days of shooting, which seemed especially challenging,” Greg said.
Jon Hamm and the director tried to find money, but they were turned down. “So we looked for partners in the movie, and everyone passed. Everyone said, “I don’t know that this kind of comedy works in this day and age.” They just had a kind of, “Who’s Fletch? I don’t think anyone cares anymore.'”
Greg explains why Jon decided to give up 60% of his salary to pay for the whole shoot.
