As per an university and athletic administration release, Jayda Grant, the daughter of University of Dayton head basketball coach Anthony Grant, has died, know her cause of death
She was a 20 years old girl.

Jayda’s death was revealed in a joint statement by the university and the athletic department on Friday afternoon.

Firstly, On behalf of the whole University of Dayton community, we mourn the loss of Jayda Grant with great sadness. Anthony, Chris, and their entire family have our heartfelt condolences.
In a joint statement acquired by News Center 7 and shared on social media, UD President Dr. Eric Spina and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan wrote, “We pray for family comfort and serenity, and we respect their desire for privacy during this time of great sadness.”
Secondly, According to an obituary issued by HH Roberts Mortuary, Jayda was a 2019 graduate of Chaminade Julienne High School and was a student at the University of Dayton.
Jayda liked to read, write, spend time with her pets, and socialize with her friends. She was a well-known champion for social justice issues both in the United States and abroad. She was a vocal supporter of marginalized communities like the LGBTQ+ community. According to her obituary, Jayda had a golden heart and a tremendous passion for the people she cared about.

In 2020 and 2021, Jayda was listed as a member of the UD women’s track & field team. Her biography, on the other hand, said that she did not compete in the 2020 indoor season and that the 2020 outdoor and 2021 indoor seasons were canceled due to COVID-19.

The cause, according to a spokesman for the Greene County Coroner’s Office, is unclear. According to the spokesperson, the office had a file on her, but her death was still being examined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to the local National Alliance on Mental Illness with it an indication that she ended up taking her own life. Her funeral arrangements have not been made public, but according to her obituary, it will be a private event.
