Archange Defrignan Mondou found dead
Ivorian footballer Archange Defrignan Mondou passed away on Tuesday after he was found unresponsive in his flat in Hamar. According to official reports, when emergency services arrived at the scene, they found him unresponsive at his flat. Following his death, Mondou’s club issued an announcement stating:
It is with great sadness that HamKam Football has received the news that Achilles has passed away at the age of 19.
He was found in his apartment. Our warmest thoughts are with his family and relatives.
The cause of death is currently unknown.”
Cause of death
As of now, neither the authorities nor his family have announced the official cause of Mondou’s death. However, local police have ruled out chances of foul play, but they are still waiting to review autopsy reports for a more detailed report.
Archange Defrignan Mondou bio and age
Archange Defrignan Mondou was a teenage professional footballer from Ivory Coast. He last played in the Norwegian football league Eliteserien, for HamKam after arriving from the Ivory Coast just last year. Mondou primarily played as a midfielder and was nicknamed Achilles.
He was just 19 years old at the time of his death and lived in his flat, located 60 miles north of the capital city of Oslo. Mondou previously played in his native Ivory Coast before moving out to Norway last year. However, he had a health scare last year in September when he had to take a break from football following an incident during training. He suffered a heart issue, following which he spent a long time in the hospital for further medical tests.
Following his death, HamKam general manager Bent Svele stated:
This is a very difficult day for everyone affected.”
