2023 ITTF Mixed Team World Cup latest results, day 5 schedule, scores, & fixtures

On the fourth day of the inaugural ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2023, Korea Republic had a memorable performance, securing two decisive victories during the second day of Stage 2 action in Chengdu. They commenced the day with a dominant 8-0 win over Slovak Republic and later faced another European opponent, Sweden, who had made headlines on Day 3.

Despite Sweden’s initial success in the mixed doubles with Christina Kallberg and Kristian Karlsson winning 2-1, Korea Republic took control of the situation. Lee Zion started the momentum by defeating Linda Bergstrom in straight games, followed by Lim Jonghoon’s impressive 3-0 victory against Anton Kalberg. In the subsequent doubles, Jang Woojin and Lim Jonghoon sealed the deal by overcoming Kristian Karlsson and Anton Kallberg, positioning Korea for a strong finish.

Similarly, Japan confronted Sweden on Thursday in a closely contested battle, where the European side won five games. Anton Kallberg and Kristian Karlsson contributed three of those wins, defeating Tomokazu Harimoto and Shunsuke Togami. However, Hina Hayata emerged as the hero, delivering a standout performance against Linda Bergstrom in the singles, leading Japan to an 8-5 victory. Japan continued its success against Slovak Republic, securing an 8-2 win.

Meanwhile, top-seeded China continued its impressive run on home soil, achieving consecutive 8-1 victories against Chinese Taipei and France, securing the top position in the standings as they approached Day 5. China anticipates a significant clash against 2nd-seeded Germany on Friday evening.
