The Haas driver ended up sealing progression into Q2 after scoring a first on-merit Q2 appearance of his F1 career. He ended up in 14th place, his best ever qualifying race till date, ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr. who failed to post a time owing to him starting tomorrow’s race in last place after his engine-change grid penalty

And an ecstatic Haas team took to Twitter to celebrate its foray into Q2 as it posted the “its been 84 years” meme on the platform.

Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix 2021 Qualifying Results 

Despite bursts of rain marring the qualifying session on Saturday, Valtteri Bottas managed to race a flawless session to take pole ahead of Sunday’s race. Although Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton topped qualifying ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix 2021, he has taken a grid penalty after seeing his engine being changed.

Hamilton who has a 10 place grid penalty ended ahead of Bottas who was leading the way for Mercedes after the first Q3 runs.

Bottas who was 0.005s ahead of Hamilton by the end of the second sector lost time in the final third and ended up 0.13s adrift of the season leader. Verstappen went through on the second sector 0.134s behind Hamilton with him losing time on the closing corners to end up 0.328s behind the best time on the day.
