“It is unacceptable, cowardly,” Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton Lashed Out At Hungary’s Anti-LGBTQ+ Law Ahead Of The Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has penned a strong message against the Hungary government’s anti-LGBTQ+ law ahead of his participation in the Hungarian Grand Prix

Over the course of the last couple of months, Hungary has been rocked and disrupted by ever increasing protests. Ever since the government in the country has passed the LGBTQ+ law on June 15, manifold people of the community have taken to the streets to hit out at the law.

Hungarian Government Passes LGBTQ+ Bill

The LGBT community leaders have gone as far as to term the anti-paedophilia bill as one which stigmatises gay people. The anti-LGTQ+ law saw scores of people in Budapest partake in a pride march, the largest ever in the region till date as they hit out at the government.

With the left leaning community known to spearhead protests which wreak havoc across the global stage against anything which doesn’t titillate their senses in the slightest, the ongoing protests are massively politicly fuelled as well. Whilst a section of the society that has a genuine angst against the law, a magnitude is engaged in the protests to bog down right wing aligned Prime Minister Viktor Orban with him set to go to election next year.

The protests tried to leave an impact on the global stage with a slew of people trying to make their presence felt during Euro 2020 as well. However, in what was a first for UEFA, the governing council took a stringent stand to send the protests scuttling.

However, the protesters have found support from the sporting community in the form of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. The Brit has spoken against the anti-LGBTQ+ law ahead of his participating in the Hungarian Grand Prix which gets underway this Friday.

“Ahead of the Grand Prix this weekend, I want to share my support for the affected by the government’s anti-LGBTQ+ law,” Hamilton posted on Instagram.

“It is unacceptable, cowardly and misguiding for those in power to suggest such a law,” he added.

Whilst it is all too well for Hamilton to weigh in on the matter with his thinking, him meddling in a country’s affairs in not so well suited. Urging citizens of a country to vote against a democratically elected government while being a foreign spectator is something Hamilton should have refrained from and rather focused upon how not to shambolically end his competitor’s races.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Vettel was spotted wearing white shoes with the pride flag on them in Hungary.
