Notably, the Black Diamond Apple (Malus Domestica), native to the tiny Tibetan Mountain city of Nyingchi, is the fruit that most closely resembles the now-viral purple apples. Huaniu, another name for this uncommon apple type, is Chinese Red Delicious.

Furthermore, a number of people who left comments on Spencer’s post verified that Saskatchewan does not have any purple apples of that kind.
