About Franco Colapinto
21-year-old Franco Colapinto was born on 27 May 2003. He is 5ft 9in tall. Colapinto is a native of Italy. He lists Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps as his favourite track and Lewis Hamilton and Ayrton Senna as his favourite drivers. He is a fan of Boca Juniors.
Colapinto travelled to Europe at an early age to compete in higher-level tournaments, thus it’s likely that his early schooling was balanced with his racing responsibilities.
Franco Colapinto began racing cars when he was nine years old. In addition to winning the Buenos Aires Regional Championship in 2016 (Pre-Junior class) and 2017 (Junior class), he also won the Argentine Championship in 2016 (Pre-Junior class) and 2018 (Sudam class).
Colapinto and Marรญa Garcรญa Puig won the gold medal at the 2018 Youth Summer Olympics. In 2018, Colapinto made his debut in motor racing as he drove for Drivex School in the F4 Spanish Championship final round.
Colapinto joined Kiwi Motorsport in January 2020 in preparation for the 2020 campaign. He finished the season with seven podium finishes, including a race win at Hampton Downs, and third place overall to secure the rookie title. Colapinto drove an Aurus 01 for G-Drive Racing and competed in the European and Asian Le Mans Series in 2021.
Colapinto joined MP Motorsport for the first post-season testing day at Catalunya in October 2020. The following year, he continued his career at Valencia, but in the end, he signed a contract to join Rafael Villagรณmez and Reece Ushijima at Van Amersfoort Racing for the 2022 campaign.
Colapinto participated in the 2022 post-season test in September, once more with MP Motorsport. He was revealed as MP Motorsport’s driver for the 2023 season on January 9, 2023.
