The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 appears to be getting ready, and rumours have it that the IPL auction might not be in India. Six IPL clubs competing in the SA20 tournament in January-February and all five owners of Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchises participating in the International League T20 have an impact on this selection. As a result, last year’s IPL auction was shifted to the December window, and it is anticipated to stay there this year.

However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation
The IPL teams have not received formal confirmation, but reports indicate that the Dubai auction is tentatively scheduled for December 18 or 19, even though these are weekdays. The BCCI had considered Istanbul as a potential location last year but decided on Kochi instead. Franchisees have been advised of the likelihood that the Dubai proposal may change, although it is still possible.
Although the player trade window is still open, no IPL team moves have been made public as of yet. It’s unclear if big deals will take place toward the end of the three-year cycle, especially if they involve high-paid players who weren’t as active in the previous campaign with teams asked to give their retained players list by November 15, 2023.
Regarding the WPL, December 9 is the approximate date of the auction. According to some rumours the 2024 WPL could take place in February, given the Indian women’s cricket team’s international commitments through mid-January. The WPL’s format is still up in the air; it’s unclear if it will take place in one city, like the previous Mumbai edition, or if it will be played throughout several Indian cities.
