Court sentences Noah Ney to 50 years in prison
Just recently, the court sentenced Noah Ney as an adult on Monday, October 23, to 50 years in prison. The decision came after he pleaded guilty to 12 counts including firearms, drugs, gangs, theft, and assault. According to a testimony from a neighbor, Ney’s behavior got worse while living with his aunt and grandmother. Assistant Tulsa County District Attorney Morgan Medders told the court:
A neighbor testified to Noah causing havoc in the neighborhood by wearing gang colors and carrying guns and knives, and often pulling them on neighbors while threatening them.”
Medders further added that several extended family members appeared at the certification hearing. However, those same people have failed to make a difference in Noah’s behaviors despite being available to him throughout his extensive juvenile history. Moreover the assistant DA also pointed out Ney’s pattern of rejecting treatment and his propensity for violence. Ney’s sentencing comes almost two months after he previously escaped from a Tulsa juvenile detention center. Ney assaulted staff members, flooded his cell, and smeared feces on the walls before escaping the center. Authorities conducted a massive manhunt following the escape and resulted in his arrest three days later outside a convenience store.
