The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made an unprecedented decision regarding the IPL 2024 Auction. The event is set to take place in Dubai on December 19, marking the first time the auction will be held outside India. The Coca-Cola Arena will serve as the venue for the auction.

The IPL 2024 season has already witnessed its first player transfer. West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd was traded from Lucknow Super Giants to Mumbai Indians during the ongoing IPL transfer window.

The BCCI has extended the deadline for the release of the list of retained players to November 26. This extension allows teams to explore trade opportunities and fine-tune their squads. Each franchise is restricted to a purse of Rs 100 crore, ensuring that no team can exceed this limit in assembling its squad.

The IPL trade window operates under specific rules designed to ensure fairness and transparency. Players can be traded through two methods: a franchise offers to sell a player, or a franchise expresses interest in a player from another team.

The negotiations between teams should exclusively involve the player’s fee. Importantly, no trade will receive approval unless sanctioned by the IPL governing council.

If multiple franchises express interest in acquiring a particular player through trade or transfer, the selling franchise retains the authority to make the final decision.

Prior to trading a player to another team, consent must be obtained from the player. It’s worth noting that ‘icon’ players are not eligible for trade.

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is poised to make his IPL return, creating additional anticipation for the event. Another name is Ben Stokes, an accomplished all-rounder, and several others like Simranjeet Singh, Sheikh Rashid, Anukul Roy, Mohammad Siraj, Sisanda Magala, and Anrich Nortje are also part of the expected IPL Auction 2024 Player List.
