There is an abundance of riches in terms of excellent fast bowlers now participating in this competition.
While spinners account for three of the top five wicket-takers in the tournament, pacers are also having a good time on the new wickets. The two pacers in the top five are Umesh Yadav (10) and Lockie Ferguson (8).

- 1 Umran Malik:
Since joining the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, the gunslinger from Jammu and Kashmir has been making headlines. Umran Malik has the potential to be a dangerous fast bowler for India, capable of regularly hitting 150 kilometers per hour.
So far in this year’s IPL, the 22-year-old has three wickets, but his economy rate has been high. Against the Gujarat Titans, he hit 153 kmph with his fastest delivery of the season. Hardik Pandya was startled early in his innings by his bouncer in that game. In the new-look SRH team in the IPL season, Malik is expected to play the enforcer role.
- 2 Lockie Ferguson:
The New Zealand speedster is one of the most recent IPL players to build a name for himself. Last season, Lockie was a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders. And his added speed and bounce caused problems for most hitters. At the IPL mega-auction earlier this year, he was signed by the Gujarat Titans for a stunning price of ten crores.
His new franchise hasn’t been let down by the 30-year-old. With his match-winning stints, he has taken eight wickets in five matches this season, helping to his team’s strong run. This season, he set a new record for the quickest delivery with 150 ticks. He also has a devastating slower delivery, which will be something to keep an eye on.
- 3 Navdeep Saini:
Before incurring an injury, the Rajasthan Royals bowler was part of a strong pace attack that included Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna. In the two games, Navdeep Saini has played this season, he has taken three wickets and looks in good form.
In the game against the Mumbai Indians, the former RCB spinner recorded one at 149 kph, making him the third-fastest pacer on the list. While his economic rate has been on the high side, once he returns to the side, he intends to lower it.
- 4 Odean Smith:
So far, the big West Indian all-rounder has had a great tournament. In the new Punjab Kings team, Odean Smith has made a great impression with both bat and ball. In five matches, the 25-year-old has taken six wickets. He recorded 148.8 kmph in the game against RCB, which was his quickest delivery.
The West Indian has already experienced a whirlwind of competition. He was the victim of a harsh Rahul Tewatia finish, but he bounced back with numbers of 4/30 against the Mumbai Indians (his best statistics in the IPL). His single match was against the Mumbai Indians in the Delhi Capitals’ first game of the tournament. The quickest delivery by Kamlesh Nagarkoti was 145.8 kmph. In that game, he went wicketless for 29 runs off two overs and hasn’t played since.
