Bengaluru’s Vidyarthi Bhavan, known for its crispy, delectable dosas, is moving to the city’s west side. It is making a presence outside Gandhi Bazaar and is headed to Malleswaram for the first time in its 79-year history.
The well-known hotel has announced the opening of a new branch. The business’s proprietors have chosen to expand and are going to establish a new hotel in Malleswaram. This new shop, which shares the same lineage and legacy as the original, will serve us some delectable South Indian meals.

Even as posters heralding the opening of a new branch go viral, dosa fans have started an internet tussle. They have singled out VB, claiming that it will compete with current businesses such as CTR and Veena Stores.

Arun Adiga, managing partner of Vidyarthi Bhavan in Malleswaram, told the media that they are working on a new “avatar” of the company. He remarked,
Vidyarthi Bhavan dosa is an emotion. We are going to bring some surprises. People can expect us in Malleshwaram by May first week.
However, he did not reveal the exact location of the second branch and other details but as indicated by him, it can be a possibility there may be a surprise in their menu.
Vidyarthi Bhavan History
The restaurant was founded in 1943 by the Ural brothers (Venkataramana and Parameshwara) from Kundapura, Udupi, and was purchased in 1970 by Ramakrishna Adiga, also from Kundapura.
After abandoning a high-paying telecom engineer career, Arun, Ramakrishna’s son, took over Vidyarthi Bhavan.

The hotel is located in Gandhi Bazar Main Road, Basavanagudi on Bengaluru’s DVG road and will soon open its new branch in Malleswaram.
It’s Timing
The restaurant opens from 6.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. on Monday to Thursday. It reopens at 2 p.m. and closes at 8 p.m.
It’s a holiday on Friday.
Weekend hours are 6.30 a.m. to noon and 2.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It’s Menu
Idly, vada, khara bath, poori, kesri bath, rava vade, and other dishes are on the menu at this renowned restaurant. The masala dosa, however, is the biggest attraction. On weekdays, waiters carrying dosas distribute up to 1,250 masala dosas, and on weekends, up to 2,000 masala dosas. Every day, they consume 4 kg of butter.
