Team Changes

Meyer Shank Racing will enter two full-time racers in the 2022 IndyCar season, while Juncos Racing will return after a two-year absence.

Rahal Letterman Racing will enter three full-time racers after signing Jack Harvey. In comparison, Team Penske shrunk their team to three full-time racers.

IndyCar 2022 New Season Drivers Changes

Jimmie Johnson signed a full-time driver contract with Chip Ganassi Racing.

Ryan Hunter-Reay announced that he wouldn’t participate from Andretti Autosport team after twelve seasons of partnership.

Jack Harvey and Meyer Shank Racing severed their contract effective since 2017. Harvey will contend 2022 season by representing Rahal Letterman Racing.

Season Format

The IndyCar 2022 season will feature seventeen races, including the flagship event Indianapolis 500. All registered teams agreed to use spec Dallara IR18 chassis, universal aero kit and Firestone tires.

2022 IndyCar will be the last season where 2.2-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine will be seen since V6 hybrid 2.4-litre engine will be introduced from 2023.

Alex Palou is the reigning IndyCar champion, and he will represent Chip Ganassi Racing.
