At the 2023 Indonesia Masters Open on Sunday, local favorite Jonatan Christie won his first championship in ten months. He won his first BWF Badminton Tour title on home soil at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace in an all-Indonesian final against Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo 21-15, 21-13 in 44 minutes. To win her second singles championship of the year, An Se Young of the Republic of Korea defeated Carolina Marin by score of 18-21, 21-18, 21-13.
Elsewhere in the men’s doubles final, unseeded Indonesian duo Leo Rolly Carnando & Daniel Marthin dispatched their Chinese rivals with ease to emerge victorious by score of 21-17, 21-16. In the women’s doubles final, Chinese pair Liu Shengshu & Zhang Shuxian bagged the title, while Liu Shengshu & Zhang Shuxian clinched the title after winning an all-Chinese mixed doubles final.
