Despite the withdrawal of multiple top-ranked pairs, Indian medal hopes from the men’s doubles category has disappeared into thin air after both of the participants were eliminated. On Tuesday, Garaga & Panjala alongside Pratheek & Ishaan were knocked out from this BWF Super 500 event.

Owing to the absence of many top-ranked stars from the Indonesia Masters Open, Indian shuttlers stand a decent chance of bagging medal from the doubles category. Although, fans are optimistic about medal chances, Indian participants have unfortunately attracted a tough draw for themselves, which might pose an obstacle in their quest for title.

On the inaugural day of 2023 Indonesian Masters Open, Haritha & Ashna were eliminated after losing their first-round tie against compatriot pair Tanisha & Ashwini in straight-set by score of 21-10, 21-7. Meanwhile, Ashwini Bhat & Shikha were crashed out at the hands of pre-tournament favorite duo of Kititharakul & Prajongjai via score-line of 12-21, 14-21. On Wednesday, India’s mixed doubles pair Ishaan & Tanisha will begin their campaign with face-off against third-seed Thom & Delphine.

Haritha & Ashna missed their chance to earn the most BWF points after being heartbreakingly eliminated from the Indonesia Masters Open first round. While this was going on, Ashiwini Bhat & Shikha Gautam were eliminated from the competition after losing to the fourth-seed team of Kititharakul & Prajongjai.

2023 Indonesia Masters Open: prize money distribution

Since it is a BWF Super 500 tournament, each doubles category winner will get $33,180 from the $420,000 total prize fund. In addition, the runner-up of every event in this illustrious competition will take home $15,960, while each second-round qualifier will receive $1,575.
