India’s Test Series Against Australia Named “The Ultimate Test Series” By ICC

ICC asked the fans to vote for the ‘Ultimate Test Series”. India’s Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-2021 win was named the Ultimate Test Series.

The final of the inaugural World Test Championship will be played from 18th of June-22nd of June at Southampton, England. India and New Zealand will compete for the World Test Champion title.

India was the table-toppers after the league stages with 520 points and a win percentage of 72.2%. They played 17 games in 6 series, winning 12, losing 4, and 1 being a draw. New Zealand on the other hand had a win percentage of 70%. They played 11 games, won 7, and lost 4. The Kiwis had 420 points to their name.

Australia vs India: The “Ultimate Test Series”

With the World Test Championship final starting in a week, ICC decided to determine the best test series of all time. There has been many great test series’ over the years that can be named as the ultimate test series.

After 15 rounds of voting and over 7 million votes across different social media platforms, ICC declared India’s series win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-2021 as the “ultimate test series” of all time in cricketing history.

Best Test Series Of All Time

This series indeed was very special because of many reasons. The way India won the test match on the last day of the Gabba test was remarkable. Rishabh Pant alongside the others created a history that day. Australia was undefeated at the Gabba for 33 years before this test.

India got all-out for 36 in the first test and to make a comeback like that was truly exceptional. Skipper Virat Kohli had also left the tour after the first game. Ajinkya Rahane then led India to the ultimate test series win.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma showed great courage in the third test and batted for more than 6 hours to draw the test. Both were ruled out after the game due to injuries. Many other players got ruled out due to injuries. All the players except Kuldeep Yadav and Kartik Tyagi and a couple of other players out of the 32 man squad played in the test series.
