For the unversed, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is seeking a new leader following Igor Stimac’s departure. They are now accepting applications for the Head Coach position for the Men’s Senior and U23 National Teams.

The applicants are advised to send their applications to AIFF before next month’s first Wednesday as the deadline is July 3, 2024.
Igor Stimac had a contract till 2026 and he drew a monthly salary of $30,000 (Rs 25 lakh approximately) which is likely to be the same salary for the next coach.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for steering both the senior and U23 Indian football teams towards key goals such as qualifying for major tournaments like the FIFA World Cup, AFC Asian Cup, and SAFF Championship, and performing well at the 2026 Asian Games.

Qualification & Experience
As per the official notification of AIFF, applicants must have 10-15 years of coaching experience at the elite level, with a successful track record preferred.
An AFC/UEFA Pro license or equivalent qualification is mandatory. Playing experience, while not essential, is an added advantage. Moreover, applicants must have the ability to enhance team and staff performance consistently.
They should also know more about efficient planning and resource management within budget. Candidates should also possess skills like leadership, strategic thinking, and networking skills.
Beyond coaching, the role also includes representing the AIFF at official functions and media interactions. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to professionalism are essential.
