Unfortunately, India’s 13-year-old bike racer Shreyas Hareesh passed away following a deadly accident at Chennai’s Madras Motor Racing Track. Notably, Hareesh recently made history by being the first Indian to compete in the two-wheeler racing World Championship final, which was held in Spain.

How Shreyas Hareesh suffered fatal injuries and succumbed to death?
On Saturday, Bengaluru’s 13-year-old young rider Copparam Shreyas Hareesh succumbed to death after he sustained fatal injuries during the third-round of the 2023 MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship at the Madras International Circuit. For this rookie race, Hareesh earned the pole position thanks to a stellar performance in the morning. However during the main race, Shreyas crashed right after exiting turn one and fell, sustaining a severe head injury. Following this incident, Hareesh was taken to a neighboring hospital via trauma care ambulance that was waiting at the track and the race was promptly red-flagged.

When he arrived at the hospital, Hareesh was immediately declared dead and during this moment, the youngster’s father Copparam Hareesh was at bedside. After 59-year-old KE Kumar’s death in January’s Saloon Car racing accident, this is the second fatality at the Madras International Circuit this year. Shreyas, who was born on July 26, 2010, attends Kensri School in Bengaluru and this season competed in the Rookie division of the Petronas TVS One-Make Championship. This year, he has won multiple races at the national level and even managed to win four consecutive races.
After winning the FIM MiniGP India championship, Shreyas competed in two Spanish MiniGP events, where he finished sixth in one race and seventh in the other race. In August, Hareesh was slated to take part in the MSBK Championship 2023 at Malaysia’s Sepang Circuit as a member of team CRA Motorsports in the 250cc division.
