India beat New Zealand in their 1st ODI
In the opening match of their one-day international series on Wednesday in Hyderabad, India defeated New Zealand by an exciting 12-run margin thanks to a double century from Shubman Gill and four wickets from Mohammed Siraj. Off 149 balls, Gill scored 208.
Finn Allen, the New Zealand team’s opening batsman, scored 40 runs, but the rest of the batsmen contributed little until Michael Bracewell, who replaced Allen at number seven, produced a batting masterclass.
He scored 140 runs, including 12 fours and 10 sixes, to keep the visitors in the game and hold them off until the final over, when he was the last one out as they were dismissed with four balls remaining.
