Despite the boisterous support from crowd, Arundhati Kashyap was unable to perform at her best and crashed out from the first-round of India Open after suffering defeat against Beiwen Zheng by score of 12-21, 15-21. Meanwhile, fellow Indian shuttler Malvika Bansod succumbed to defeat against reigning champion Busanan Ongbamrungphan, who won in straight-set by score of 21-17, 21-12.
Among other matches of Wednesday, Akane Yamaguchi thrashed her opponent Carla Azurmendi to continue her strong run and qualify for the second-round, where she will face-off against Han Yue. Elsewhere on Thursday, Saina Nehwal will face the uphill task of defeating third-seed Chen Yufei to secure her berth in the quarterfinal. 2023 Malaysia Open: BWF points award system
Malvika Bansod and Arundhati Kashyap were playing in front of their own fans, but they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, and they were eliminated from the India Open.
