Despite his challenging first-round clash against Viktor Axelsen on Wednesday, Kidambi Srikanth showcased his potential and came close to winning the second-set before squandering his chance to lose in straight sets. Although Srikanth raced to 11-4 lead in the second-set, the world champion caught up to the Indian and secured victory by score of 21-14, 21-19.
Meanwhile, second-seed Malaysian ace Lee Zii Jia survived an early scare against Rhustavito to win 20-22, 21-19, 21-12 after an intense contest that lasted over an hour.
