Among other matches of the day, fifth-seed Chou Tien-chen and fifth-seed Jonatan Christie won their respective ties to qualify for the quarterfinal where they will face-off against each other. On Friday, China’s Li Shifen will clash against sixth-seed Anthony Ginting after the former stunned second-seed Lee Zii Jia in Thursday’s second-round match by score of 21-11, 14-21, 21-18.

Since the India Open has been promoted to the BWF Super 750 level, the winner of singles category will receive $59,500 compared to the runner-up player’s payout of $28,900. Following his early exits from the pre-quarterfinal stage, Lakshya Sen will receive $2,550 as prize money.
