Norman Pritchard was the only athlete, who had won medal during that marquee event, and both of them were silver medals for athletics. During that marquee event, India became the first Asian nation to win an Olympic nation.
India participated for a team event for the first time during the 1920 Summer Olympic Games and the Indian contingent participated for the first time for the Winter Olympic Games in 1964. India had won a total of 28 medals during the Summer Olympics.
