Although they faced off last year, Swiatek and Alexandrova have yet to play one another in 2022. In the Round of 16 of the Melbourne 500 Gippsland Trophy, they faced off against one another. Swiatek was upset by ninth Alexandrova in straight sets.

Prediction

At the Ostrava Open 2022, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will compete against Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Swiatek faced off against Caty McNally in the quarterfinals. In fact, McNally won both of their junior matches, and the two won the doubles match in the 2018 Junior French Open.

Swiatek, though, has undoubtedly established a solid reputation for herself in the tennis community since the two were juniors. The 21-year-old, who is now ranked No. 1 among female players, always seems to be the one to beat in whatever competition she joins. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that Swiatek overcame McNally 6-4, 6-4. Ultimately, McNally was unable to establish an advantage against Swiatek and the Polish star was able to profit from any mistakes she made.

Alexandrova, who Swiatek has yet to defeat, will be her next opponent. Fourth-seeded Daria Kasatkina was stunned in the second round by fifth-seeded Alexandrova, who then defeated Tereza Martincova in three sets to get to the semifinals. Martincova lost to her 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. In her encounter with the Czech, Alexandrova hit 84 percent of her first serves, which was followed by a 73 victory percentage when she did. She had six aces and four double errors.

At this point in her career, it would be impossible to not support Swiatek. The 21-year-old has often shown why she’s one of the finest players on tour right now. She will definitely have some difficulties with Alexandrova. However, don’t expect it to faze Swiatek too much. In just two sets, Swiatek should be able to qualify for the championship match.
